Harris Tynes Realty Group, Inc. was recently awarded the NAIOP Development of the Year Award for its work in developing Cahaba Beach Office Park. Cahaba Beach Office Park was created with the help of Gonzalez Strength & Associates as engineers, Hendon+Huckstein as architects, D.L. Acton & Company as General Contractors, and Selective Inc. as the site contractors. The project also included financial backing from The Lemak Group of Companies, Protective Life Company, with Superior Bank as the lender. In conjunction with the development team, Shelby County and its Development Services Department began reviewing the project, and helped to create a widened and extended road, and greater infrastructure which would extend from Highway 280 to the project. After almost fourteen months of planning and preparation, endless hours of negotiation, and multiple revisions to the master plan, Cahaba Beach Office Park broke ground in April of 2008, with the renovation of the first building. The renovation included the demolition and removal of almost 65,000 square feet of warehouse; improved parking to the site; a significant update and re-engineering of mechanical, electrical, exterior and communications systems of the building; and finished with the expansion of Cahaba Beach Road and the entrances to the property. Cahaba Beach Office Park takes its place in the Highway 280 submarket, as the first new office building in almost five years, and the first office park to be created in almost ten years.
